A 33-year-old man from Putnam Valley who apparently planned to jump off the Tappan Zee Bridge early Tuesday morning was tackled by a state trooper and escorted off the span, officials said.
The man was driving northbound on the bridge when he got out of his vehicle at about 5:45 a.m., officials said. Trooper Osiris Smith noticed the man, summoned more officers and tried to strike up a conversation.
