Yonkers to hire 35 firefighters even as salaries uncertain

Yonkers will be hiring a new class of 35 entry-level firefighters at a ceremony Friday, a move aimed at boosting the Fire Department's ranks and reduce overtime costs that have spiraled out of control amid record manpower shortages.

Still, the new hires won't come cheap.
